Join the regenerative agriculture farming conversation!
Thursday, April 14, 2022, Enchanted Hearth Farm, N9162 North Road, Watertown, WI 53094 WI 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Tiffany & Tom Carey are in the beginning stages of developing a regenerative agricultural production system on their 40 acre farm in the Town of Ixonia, WI. Â Tiffany is converting from continuous grazing to rotational grazing with her sheep flock and goat herd. Â She is initiating the planning process of adding woody species into her pastures and enhancing forage with in already wooded portions of the property.
Expert Silvopasture planner, Matt Wilson, Savanah Institute will lead the group discussion of how the farm will be transformed, laying out the steps Tiffany will need to take to make this transition successful. Â Kirsten Jurcek, Glacierland RC&D, will discuss the NRCS EQIP cost share program and the grazing planning she has helped Tiffany with. Â Tiffany will share her overall farm vision and the steps she is taking to achieve it.
As we tour this startup grazing farm we’ll discuss how managed rotational grazing & silvopasture are economically viable restorative agricultural practice which enhances water quality, soil health, carbon sequestration and pollinator & wildlife habitat.  Pasture walk highlights include:
- Grazing farm start up lessons
- Silvopasture Basics
- Federal, state and local cost share options
Whether you are a beginning or experienced grazing farmer or a conventional farmer looking for more flexibility and financial security in your livestock production you’ll be sure to go home with knowledge that will better your farm! There will be lots of opportunity for questions, networking with existing graziers, and good conversation, so be sure to attend!
This event is open to the public and free of charge. Â Please register here or contact Glacierland RC&D Grazing Educator Kirsten Jurcek at (920) 342-9504 or kirsten@glacierlandrcd.org preregister so we can accommodate everyone.
